JOB DESCRIPTION
We are seeking a talented, motivated, and inventive Criminal Defense Attorney (CDA) to join our growing team. As an CDA with NextLaw, you must be committed to and aligned with our Vision and Mission, as well as our Core Values. This is an exciting opportunity to work on a variety of criminal and DUI defense cases, gain valuable experience, and make a real difference in the lives of our clients. Qualified candidates will eventually have opportunities to become involved in our flourishing Personal Injury practice, if they choose!
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct legal research and analysis
- Draft legal documents, including motions, briefs, and pleadings
- Assist in case preparation and strategy
- Represent clients in court proceedings, including motions and jury trial
- Sign up prospective clients, sharing “on call” duty with other attorneys and team members
- Collaborate with other team attorneys and support staff
BASE REQUIREMENTS
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school
- Admission to the Washington and local bar
- 2 to 3 years of experience in criminal defense (prosecutor experience a plus)
- Strong research, writing, and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Passion for criminal law and advocating for clients
- Spanish speaking a plus
- Knowledge of case management software (i.e. Clio, Filevine) helpful
COMPENSATION
We offer a competitive salary commensurate with experience, along with benefits and opportunities for professional development and growth within the firm.
Position is full-time, salaried. Annual compensation ranges from $100,000 – 125,000+ (base plus incentives) depending on experience, and even more important – HUSTLE.
Benefits include a highly competitive PTO program, full health/dental/vision (self and dependents), 401K with Corporate Match, paid parking, and a relaxed hybrid/office arrangement to suit your personal needs, among other perks.
